Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Q. What do I do if I see a street light that is out?
A. Street lights are maintained by the electric company Puget Sound Energy. There are two ways to address a burned out street light.
The first is to go to the PSE web site at http://www.pse.com/insidePSE/contactus/Pages/streetlight.aspx
Please complete the form and submit it. In order to do this you will need to note the light number which is on the lamp pole and the address closest to the light.
The second way is to contact the Association General Manager who will handle the issue.
Q. There is a tree that appears to be unsafe, what should I do?
A. Do not attempt to cut the tree down yourself. Call the Association General Manager, Richard Kuziomko who will come out to see if the tree is the Association’s responsibility. If so it will be pruned, cut by the maintenance service or serviced by a professional tree maintenance service. Should the tree be in a natural area, the appropriate authorities in Mount Vernon will be notified to seek their permission for any work.
Q. Where should I pay my dues?
A. The best way to pay your dues is to mail the check or have your bank auto-pay to the association’s mail box at
Eaglemont Community Homeowners Association Post Office Box 1543 Mount Vernon, WA 98273
Another Alternative is to drop off the payment at the Eaglemont Golf Office who will forward the payment to the Association.
Finally you can always call the General Manager who will work out a way to receive the payment.
Q. I always paid my dues on a monthly basis, now I have been told I have to pay all at once.
A. The CC&Rs state in article 6.4 that the dues will be paid in quarterly installments on the first day of each quarter. The Association has decided that the invoices will be sent out on or before the first day but only payable on the 15th day following. All dues therefore must be paid on or about the 15th of January/April/July/October. In the past some individuals paid monthly but this is in contravention of the CC&Rs. As of 2010 the regulations will be applied as written in order to be fair to the vast majority of the homeowners who do pay on time each quarter.
Q. Behind my home there is patch of land that no one takes care of. It is full of weeds and they are encroaching on my backyard. What should I do?
A. The first thing to do is to determine what the area behind your home is. Please call the General Manager who will verify the nature and ownership of the area. If the area is a natural or water conservation area, then it must be kept in its natural state. If the area is property of Eaglemont Golf and not a natural area, they should be contacted to maintain it.
Q. There is a car that is parked on the street even though it is clearly marked No Parking.
A. Please first mention this to the homeowner that the vehicle belongs to, or to whom it is visiting. Most of the time neighbors will be understanding and work together. To get more immediate formal action, you may call:
Mount Vernon Police Department (360) 336 6271
The police department will dispatch a unit to verify any illegally parked vehicle and if necessary ticket it. Should the problem persist, call the General Manager who will handle the situation.
Q. Can I get a special rate to rent the Golf Pavilion for an event?
A. The Golf Pavilion is owned and operated by Eaglemont Golf, a private company that is not related to the Eaglemont Community Homeowners Association. They arrange for all rentals and set the rates. Get in touch with them at the Golf Club, restaurant or contact Peter Hsiu. The Pavilion is a beautiful location with ample parking that is a nice venue for private events.
Q. I just saw a suspicious person/car around the neighborhood, who do I tell?
A. Do not approach the person/car yourself. Call the Mount Vernon Police Department at 911 or (360) 336 6271.
The police will send out a vehicle to investigate and take action if necessary.
Eaglemont also has a security service provided by Whatcom Security that can be contacted at night. Whatcom Security's phone number is (888) 400-4083.
Whatcom Security will also investigate and call the police if necessary.
Q. Every time I drive by at night the security guard just seems to be sitting there. What does he do?
A. Both Eaglemont Community Homeowners Association and Eaglemont Golf share in the cost of the security service provided by Whatcom Security. The guard patrols Eaglemont for 40 minutes of every hour and spends the other 20 minutes in the guardhouse.
The patrols look for unusual incidents, open doors and verify lighting. During the time security is present, more senior officers also join the patrol on a random basis.
You can contact the guard by calling (888) 400-4083.
The guards log all activities and the reports are submitted daily to both Eaglemont Golf and the Association for follow up.
